Code of Practice and legislation available |
| An updated version of the NSW Driver Trainers Association Code of Best Practice is now available to download from the website. Please go to the newsletters section and you will find a PDF version of the code for you to download. Also available in the same section is a copy of the NSW Driving Instructors ACT and the NSW Driving Instructors Regulations. I would advise all members to download these documents as you are all bound by their contents. There can be no excuse for not being aware of you requirements both under the law, and under this associations code. Please take the time to read these and make sure that you are in compliance. |
Classifieds |
| Our online classifieds section has been filing up fast since we made advertising free. We have lots of ads for instructors wanted, as well as cars for sale and dual controls. For those people interested in getting into the industry this is a great resource for finding jobs, and its great to see so many schools with enough work that they are looking for more instructors. We are also negotiating with various companies about advertising on our site and in our newsletter, with the aim to obtain discounts for members. We will always keep you informed regarding any benefits you recieve by being a member of this association. |
Keys2drive |
| There has been a steady increase in the number of free lessons being delivered to learner drivers in NSW since the public launch late March. Some instructors have comented that they have had very little enquiries regarding free lessons, so I would take this opportunity to remind you that you can, and should, be marketing this to your existing clients. Feedback from those that have had a free lesson has been very positive. Most can see great benefit in the different apporach to the learning that the program is promoting. With so many instructors trained so far, the AAA has decided to scale back on instructor training for the moment, and concentrate effort and resources into marketing the program and significantly increasing the number of lessons delivered. There have also been some significant re-organising of roles within the program, and a new administrator has been appointed. The AAA will be notifying registered instructors about the new contacts very soon. For more information visit www.keys2drive.com.au |
Working with Children Certificates |
| We have received information relating to the compliance date for obtaining a "working with children certificate for self employed people". Originally stated as March 2010, then shifted to May 2010, it has now moved to May 2011. For those people who already have one, don't panic, it just means you are ahead of the rest. For those yet to get one we would suggest not leaving it till the last minute as it could be easily forgotten. We will all need one by eventually so it is probably better to get it underway now. Site visits |
| Thank you to those members who have participated in our field trips so far this year. Numbers have been down on previous visits, however we will still endevour to conduct these trips as there is still benefit to those that do attend. We are trying to organise a trip to Crashlab for later this year, and will soon be sending out an Expression Of Interest form for you to complete. We would like to get an idea of how many would like to go before we make any final arrangements, as this trip will cost us money and we want to make sure we are spending your money wisely. It would not be worth the costs for only a smal handful of people to attend. So please if you are interested in this, fill in the form and send it back ASAP. |
