P Driver Project

On the 18/10/2011, a new research project was launched in both NSW and Victoria. This project is designed to look at the differences between a control group of P platers against that of a group of P platers who participate in some forums centred on risk taking and behaviours. Trained facilitators will work with them in these forums, where personal experiences are shared and self assessments take place. They are looking for newly licenced P platers to participate, so perhaps you could encourage some of your clients to sign up. They only want them in specific areas, so it's not for everybody.

For further information, check out the Ministerial release on the link below.

New log book hour requirements

The NSW State election has been run and won. As a result we have now had a change of government with the O'Farrell coalition government winning power. Andrew Stoner has stepped aside from his role of Shadow Roads Minister, and Duncan Gay has been appointed into that role. We have had several communications with Mr Gays office and are seeking clarification on the changes to the conditions of learner licences.

In the lead up to the election, the liberal party announced that the hours would remain at 120, however 20 hours credit wuld be given for attending a 1 day skilled driver course for learner drivers. Details of this course have not been finalised, however we have taken the initiative of developing a course that we believe could be used for this. This course is nearing completeion, and when done will be presented to the Roads Minister for consideration.

Once we have clarification of any changes to learner licencing and the GLS, we will notify all members.

Membership renewals

It’s that time of year again people. Membership renewals are due by the end of December 2011, except for those new members who joined us this year whose membership will continue until the end of December 2012.

Membership fees for 2012 are increasing to $110 so that we are able to continue to provide you with an increasing number of services and benefits. However we are offering an early bird renewal rate of $99 if you renew your membership (including payment) by the end of December. That’s a 10% saving off the new fees and also ensures continuity of membership.

Renewal forms will be sent out very soon, so get in early, save some money, and tell other instructors you know about the benefits of membership.

We have several things in the pipeline for next year and when finalised, the calendar for 2012 is going to look pretty full. So make sure you’re able to take advantage of these by renewing your membership now.
