New demerit point systemA new demerit point scheme for Learner driver came into effect from 28/9/2009. Leaner drivers now have up to 4 demerit points that they can accumulate on their licence befoe it is suspended. For minor infringements this means they can only get away with one before they would face a suspension for a further offence, but for speeding where the minimum points a Learner can have issued is 7, that means zero tolerance to speeding for learners. One speeding offence will attract 7 points putting them over the maximum of 4, resulting in a 3 month suspension. |

Keys2driveKeys2drive accreditation training for driving instructors in NSW began on 8/10/2009 at Milperra. There have been several training days across Sydney completed, with more currently being booked. There will be training in regional areas arranged around some central locations. Possible areas for presentations have been circulated, so if there was one mentioned that you would be interested in, please let the keys2drive administrator know.
For those who haven't registered for the program, it would be recommended that you do so as soon as possible to ensure you are trained and accredited ready for the proposed NSW launch. There is a planned launch of early December, but that could depend on how many instructors are accredited. |
